Each week, OTF aggregates the power rankings and visits with the MLS pundits to see what they say about our Chicago Fire…

HIT THE MUSIC!!!

Aggregate = 12.7/19 ( +1.4 from last week)

ESPN FC  (11)

“With a designated player on the way, Chris Rolfe picked the perfect time to have his best game of the season with two goals in a 4-1 win over D.C. United. It’s likely that Rolfe will move to midfield and Sherjill MacDonald will exit on loan.”

And if Rolfe moves to midfield, it should be on the wing. If not, the double-pivot 4-4-2 must be scrapped. Chris Rolfe will get physically destroyed if Klopas plays him at CM with the latter tactics. You heard it here first.

MLSsoccer.com (12)

“We’ve got them figured out: They kill losing teams, but struggle against anyone quality. In the East, that may be enough to get them into the playoffs – but they’ve definitely got work to do.”

Glad to know Matthew Doyle and I are on the same page. Cheers Mr. MLS Analyst.

Sports Illustrated (13)

“Chris Rolfe and Joel Lindpere led the way in an absolute rout of bottom-feeder D.C. United, which was decided in the opening minutes. Lindpere has struggled in his first season with Chicago after three seasons in New York, but he has come on strong as of late, notching all five of his assists in 2013 in the Fire’s last five games. With his place in the starting XI no longer a sure thing, his goal and two assists against D.C. certainly helped his case.”

Tough choices ahead, eh? But these are good problems to have, right Gaffer?

Soccer America (13)

“The Fire found D.C. United to be the perfect tonic for its two-game losing streak, and pounded out a 4-1 victory. Chris Rolfe scored twice and Joel Lindpere scored the winning goal and also recorded two assists.”

Gargle it?

Yahoo! Sports (13)

“‘Can I play against DC every week?” – Chris Rolfe.”

NBC Sports Pro Soccer Talk (14)

“Well, well, well, look who finally broke out at Toyota Park! Chris Rolfe had two goals in a 4-1 win over D.C. United. Is he about to get on one of his signature runs?”

Shocking, isn’t it? Hell, the little blond soccer elf who can do no wrong even inspired this week’s MLS Anatomy of a Goal!

Bleacher Report (14)

“With their trampling of D.C. at home on Saturday, the Fire moved within five points of the Eastern Conference playoff places. In the victory, Mike Magee continued his scoring rampage with the final Fire goal of the match in the 56th minute. Magee, who has 12 goals this season, sits one goal behind Vancouver’s Camilo Sanvezzo in the Golden Boot race.”

“Scoring rampage” has a nice ring to it, no?

*NOTE: Timely MLS Power Rankings are clearly not a priority at Goal.com or Soccer by Ives.

Let’s start thinking what we’re doing
Don’t let nothing change your mind
Let’s start heading homeward bound
Get off the ground
Stop losing, yeah losing
Keep risin’ to the top
